Currently

My name is Chelsea Gill and I am an Academic Administrator for Stride, Inc. I oversee Kindergarten through 8th grade at Cascade Virtual Academy and Insight School of Oregon-Painted Hills, two K12 public virtual schools in Oregon. Some of my major responsibilities include overseeing our K-3 Reading Remediation program which focuses on primary-grade students who are one to three years behind academically in reading. Through this initiative, I oversee the implementation of an Orton-Gillingham phonics intervention program that has seen reading growth scores of upwards of 15% in one academic year, year over year the past two academic years. Other responsibilities include monthly data-driven instructional meetings with each of my staff to review instructional maps, and pacing guides, and review lessons that focus on Power Standards for their respective grade level and content area. Another major component of my position is to facilitate the increase of student course passing rates by 33% by developing a progress and course monitoring system for teachers to identify low-performing students.

 

Outside of my major responsibilities, I collaborate with teachers on enhancing lesson plans and digital lessons by ensuring content directly relates to state standards and content from the provided curriculum. When teachers are struggling to design an effective lesson that is engaging, interactive, and meaningful, I provide coaching and mentorship to teachers that direct them toward higher Depths of Knowledge level questioning and designed to stimulate academic growth for all students.
